UEL

This new sports and academic centre on the ‘Teardrop’ site is located to the North East of the University of East London’s Docklands Site, and next to London City Airport.

This exciting new development will complete the masterplan for the wider academic Campus and will provide extensive sports and learning facilities for both the University students and the local community.

When complete, the new facilities will include two full size sports halls and an all weather flood-lit pitch.  It will also include lecture and teaching rooms, changing facilities, aerobic studios, a health and fitness suite, gymnasium and main auditorium, all of which are fully compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act and Sport England recommendations.

With a target set for renewables of 20%, the buildings have been designed with sustainability in mind and include green roofs, photovoltaic cells for solar energy production and a biomass boiler for heating.  As the work has already commenced on site, all of the waste from the ground works has been recycled for use on the site so that it has not been necessary for any lorry movements to take waste away.

The project will meet ‘BREEAM’ Excellent.
