“Cranbrook” in Eastbourne is a high quality extra care scheme for older people, built on behalf of Saxon Weald.
The development comprising of 62 one and two bedroom apartments, has been specially designed to make life easier for older people, especially those with care needs, who want to remain independent in their own homes. The building incorporates the latest technologies and design techniques as well as communal lounges, a hairdressing salon and a restaurant.
The development ensures that residents’ housing, social and healthcare needs are met, supported by a professional care team on-site 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It includes a state-of-the-art keyless security system, which ensures that residents are totally secure in their homes, yet enjoy all the usual freedom to come and go as they wish, while maintenance staff and visitors only have access to communal areas of the building for specific time periods.
Additional features include colour coding each storey of the interior, so residents can easily orientate themselves, and high quality, fully equipped kitchens and bathrooms in every apartment.
The £8 million development, which received a £6 million grant from the Homes and Community Agency, will be owned and managed by Saxon Weald.
