Covers Yard

Work begins at Covers Yard

Date posted: 30th September 2011

We have started work on-site at our latest project in Brighton - a housing scheme on Melbourne Street, which we are developing for The Hyde Group.

Hyde owns and manages over 45,000 homes for more than 120,000 customers across the country. They also work very closely with local authorities and the Homes and Communities Agency to provide homes or rent agreements that are affordable.

The new £4 million development is named after the former site of the builder’s merchant, Covers Yard, upon which it is built. In its place will be built 30 one- and two-bedroom apartments, plus four three-bedroom maisonettes and four two-bedroom units for disabled people, all of which will be available for rent or shared ownership.

With the finished scheme set to achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3, we will use renewable heating technologies such as photovoltaic and solar thermal panels on the roof to help achieve this rating.

Graham Brown said:  “We are pleased to start work on this project in Brighton, especially as it is providing more high quality affordable homes for people through our successful partnership with Hyde Housing.”
