Denne to build new sustainable homes in Essex

Date posted: 13th July 2011

Denne are to build 17 new, sustainable and affordable homes in the coastal village of Goldhanger in Essex, on behalf of Moat.

Moat is a housing association providing affordable homes for people in the South East.  They are also one of the Homes and Communities Agency’s development partners and are the Government-appointed Local HomeBuy Agent in Essex. Denne will commence work on the £2 million development in Maldon Road in June 2011, building 12 two-bedroom and 5 three-bedroom affordable apartments, which will be available for rent or shared ownership.

The construction will involve the use of an all timber frame with highly insulated walls, roof, windows and a positive venting system, which will help reduce running costs.  These design features mean that the development will achieve a Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 rating.

Graham Brown, Managing Director said: “We are pleased to be continuing our established relationship with Moat by constructing this development of both sustainable and affordable housing in Essex. Denne has built an enviable reputation for constructing much needed rural housing, built to the highest standards, using sustainable technologies.”

Jason Amos, Head of Development Delivery at Moat, said: “Moat and Denne have developed a strong partnership over the years and we look forward to progressing this with these 17 new homes. There is a real housing need in the Maldon district and we are pleased to be working to meet this need for the Goldhanger community.”
