Denne has completed the first phase of a new housing project on behalf of Ashford Borough Council – the first Local Authority led housing project in Kent for 20 years.
The project, which has created a total of 27 homes across four different sites, is the first affordable housing project built directly for and owned by a Local Authority in Kent for two decades. Ashford is one of just a handful of authorities in the South East to begin building affordable housing again after the introduction of new rules which allow them more financial freedom.
The completion of this scheme continues the relationship between Denne and Ashford Borough Council, which has already resulted in the successful refurbishment of 325 homes to the Decent Homes standard.
Built on the former sites of unused garage blocks, the 23 houses and four flats, which were built using a timber frame system to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3, provide Ashford with much needed affordable housing.
