Trainees interviewed by BBC

Denne helping to tackle UK unemployment

Date posted: 17th March 2011

Following the announcement by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) that the jobless rate is now at 8%, the highest since 1996, we at Denne are doing our bit to help improve these statistics.

Denne's site in South Kilburn was selected for a visit by Employment Minister Chris Gayling on Monday 14thMarch to see what we are doing to support local people into employment.

Chosen because of our reputation of being at the leading edge of supporting young people in employment & skills in the construction industry, we are actively providing training and employment opportunities on our sites.

Hugh Pym, Chief Economic Correspondent within the BBC interviewed the Employment Minister on the Government’s approach to tackling youth unemployment.  Chris Gayling mentioned Denne’s Skills Centre at South Kilburn as an excellent example of how businesses can respond to support the Government’s programme by providing work experience and apprenticeship opportunities.

Working in partnership with London & Quadrant Housing Association, we are the construction partner on the first phase of South Kilburn’s massive £700million regeneration scheme and are committed to delivering training and employment opportunities.
