Denne celebrates success with early Christmas present for local children

Date posted: 23rd December 2010

To celebrate a year of success and to underline our community values we treated local children to an early Christmas present with a VIP visit to the cinema.

Hiring the largest screen at Rochester Cineworld, we treated our staff and their families as well as children from both Charles Dickens School in Broadstairs, and King Ethelbert School in Birchington, along with children being cared for by the Demelza Care Hospice, in Sittingbourne to a viewing of the latest Harry Potter movie.

We wanted to share our success from the Kent Excellence in Business Awards earlier this year, when we were recognised for our commitment to the community and also won the Employer of the Year award.

A total of 56 students and teachers from the two schools, where we continue to work as part of the Building Schools for the Future scheme in Thanet, enjoyed the film along with free drinks and popcorn.

After the event, Pam Howson, Deputy Head of Care at Demelza Kent said: “The families who attended have said how much they enjoyed the event and how they had such a wonderful welcome when they arrived. They hugely appreciated the efforts everyone at Denne went to in order to make sure their day was a lovely treat.”
