Denne have started work on the redevelopment of the former George pub in Catford, built originally in 1870. When complete, the site of the former 19th Century coaching inn will house two apartment buildings comprising 35 affordable homes for London and Quadrant Housing Association, as well as a Tesco Metro shop.
Designed by Yurky Cross Chartered Architects, the development will deliver a high quality residential scheme which suits the character of the surrounding area whilst providing a landmark building for the approach to Catford Town Centre.
Due for completion in a year’s time, the development will be serviced by transport links on the edge of Catford town centre.
The first apartment building will comprise 22 one-bedroom, 10 two-bedroom and three three-bedroom homes for rent, while providing tenants with the opportunity to buy their homes at a later date.
These apartments, which are being providing for The London Borough of Lewisham, will offer tenants a choice of one to four bedrooms and will also have numerous bicycle and car parking spaces, including three for disabled drivers.
